Upcoming Training and Kindergarten Summer Activities

We will be having a parent session this coming Thursday night, June 9th, from 5:30-6:30pm at Second Street School to talk about how to prepare your child over the summer for Kindergarten and what to expect for the coming year.  Preschool teachers and Kindergarten teachers will be there to answer questions as well.  Daycare will be an option for families, but you will need to RSVP with me so that I can make sure we have enough staff on hand.  Please call me at 803-0309 or send me an email at to let me know you are coming.

Below are some Kindergarten activities that Lexington has planned specifically for Kindergarten students.

■ June 11, Kindergarten Rumpus, Lexington Children’s Theatre, 418 West Short Street, 10 a.m. Call 254-4546 Ext. 233 to pre-register.

■ June 18, Lexington Philharmonic and Lexington Ballet, 161 North Mill Street, noon. Ballet and music, creative movement workshops. Additional adults and children $5 advance, $7 at door.

■ June 25 and July 16, YMCA Bar Y Camp, 5757 Versailles Road, 9 a.m. Kindergarten games, stories, scavenger hunt. Call 226-0393 or email to pre-register. Additional adults and children $2.

■ July 7, Living Arts and Science Center, 362 North Martin Luther King Boulevard, 6 p.m. Hands-reptile art and activities. Accompanying adults admitted free, others $5.

■ July 20, Lexington Public Library, 140 East Main Street, 1:30 p.m. Important things to know in kindergarten.

■ July 30, Explorium of Lexington, 440 West Short Street, 11 a.m. Museum exhibits. Additional adults and children half price.
