As you may have read in the paper, Frankfort Independent Schools has acquired the former PUSH building next to Head Start off of Wilkinson Blvd. Mr. Crowe has proposed to use the PUSH building for Central Office, our preschool classrooms and the Wrap Around daycare classrooms for the next school year. This building was formerly used for preschool age children as a special needs daycare so the building was created with young children in mind. By moving those classrooms to the PUSH building, this would free up space at Second Street School to gradually create a K through 8th grade school.
While some may view this as a negative, I am looking at this as an opportunity for us to grow. Change is hard for everyone. There are certainly drawbacks and positives to moving our program. I would ask that you view this in a positive light to see what we can do with this new space and improve our preschool program.
There will be a Board meeting on Monday February 11th at Second Street School’s library to discuss this proposal and to take comments from the public. Please come by the library if you would like to be part of the discussion on the moves for next school year. If you don’t feel comfortable voicing your concerns there please feel free to come talk to me! I promise to listen and maybe I can even alleviate some of your concerns.
