Local events in August at the Salato Center

Here are some upcoming events in the community at the Salato Center. They look like fun and I will probably try to take my children to some of these things!

August 3 Guided Nature Walk

Join us at 11am for a guided morning walk on some of our trails.
Participants will learn about Kentucky native plants, flowers, trees, and whatever critters decide to join! Not all trails will be wheelchair or stroller accessible. Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and bring drinking water. No registration required. Free with general admission.

August 17 Wildlife Olympics

Join us from 11am to 2pm for the Salato Wildlife Olympics! Participants can test their strengths and abilities at various outdoor exhibits while learning about the abilities of some of our wildlife. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in four age groups. Activities will be set up as follows:

· Grip Strength (Bald Eagle exhibit)

· Casting Accuracy (Living Stream exhibit)

· Long Jump (Bobcat exhibit)

· Deer Dash Race (White-tailed Deer exhibit)

· Archery (near Butterfly Amphitheater)

Designed for children ages 3 to 16. No registration required. Free with general admission.

August 31 Meet a Critter

The Salato Center is home to more critters than first meets the eye. Join us Saturday at 11am for your chance to get an up close and personal look at some of the animals that call Salato home! No registration required. Free with general admission.
