Here are some upcoming events at the Salato Center you may be interested in attending with your preschooler.

October 4 Hawktoberfest Program

Join us for Part 1 of “Hawktoberfest” as we welcome nationally renown educator and bird expert Doris Mager to the Salato Center for a presentation on raptors! Learn why Doris is known as “The Eagle Lady” and hear tales from her storied career as a rehabilitator and educator that has spanned over 50 years. This program, which be­gins at 10:30am, will feature some of the center’s resi­dent raptors and is sure to entertain and educate visitors of all ages. No registration required. Free with gen­eral admission.

October 11 Creepy Crawlers Program

Curious about insects, bugs, and other little critters that might be considered “creepy crawlers?” Then this pro­gram is for you! Join the Salato Center’s resident bug expert John Baggerman at 2pm for your chance to learn about and get an up-close look at some particularly in­teresting specimens. No registration required. Free with general admission.

October 18 Hawktoberfest Program

Join us for Part 2 of “Hawktoberfest” as we discuss Kentucky’s raptors! This program, which begins at 3pm, will feature some of the center’s resident raptors and is sure to entertain and edu­cate visitors of all ages. No registration required. Free with general admission.

October 25 Halloween Walk with the Animals

Put on your costume and join us at the Salato Center from 1pm to 5pm for the best trick-or-treat experience in town! This kid-friendly event will include a hay bale maze, “Creatures of the Night” exhibit, face painting and – of course – plenty of candy! Kids will each receive a Passport, which they will get stamped at each exhibit after receiving a treat (or trick!). Our staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions, and all of our wildlife will be present and waiting …for you! Admission is $5 per person. Annual membership holders and infants too young to participate are free! No registration required. The Salato Center will be closed until 12 pm on day of event.
